As we progress into this first autumn term, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what has been a fantastic couple of weeks at Healey Junior, Infant and Nursery School. It has been an absolute joy seeing how seamlessly our school community has got back into the groove of learning, and I am immensely proud of everything we have achieved together so far.

A Calm, Happy, and Productive School Life

School life has been wonderfully calm, happy, and productive. Walking through the corridors and stepping into classrooms each day, I continue to be impressed by the focused, serene atmosphere across every key stage.

Our incredible learners have settled brilliantly into their routines and are showing tremendous enthusiasm for their work. Whether it is our newest little ones in Nursery and Reception classes, who are now well and truly settled, or our Year 6 learners, who have stepped up as fantastic role models, every single one of our pupils comes to school ready to discover and succeed.

This positive rhythm is thanks to the unwavering dedication of my wonderful colleagues, who work tirelessly to create safe, stimulating, and nurturing environments where every child can thrive.

Our Recent Ofsted Visit

A major highlight of our term so far was welcoming three Ofsted inspectors to our school earlier this week, including His Majesty’s Inspector (HMI).

Inspection days provide a valuable opportunity to showcase the daily life of our school.  As a school, we are evaluated on three-year trends. 

Attendance remains a key focus area where we urgently need the support of all parents and carers.

Please help us maintain the improvements made by ensuring your child does not take time out of school during term time. Every single day in school absolutely counts, and research consistently demonstrates that learners with excellent attendance achieve far better academic outcomes.

The Ofsted report will be available to parents and the wider community, once it has undergone thorough quality assurance checks.

Key Events & Community Updates

• FRED Launch Meeting (Years 1–3): Wednesday (23rd September) at 9:00am, we are hosting a special parents' meeting in the main hall to launch FRED (Families Reading Everyday). If your child is in Year 1, 2, or 3, please do come along to learn more about this fantastic initiative!

• Parent & Toddler Group: Please note that our Wednesday morning Parent and Toddler group is currently on pause, but will resume straight after the October half-term break. We look forward to welcoming our littlest community members back very soon.

Teamwork & Open Communication

At Healey, we firmly believe that teamwork is the foundation of our success. A flourishing school relies on a strong, collaborative partnership between home and school, ensuring our learners feel fully supported, valued, and inspired every step of the way.

Maintaining open, honest lines of communication is a essential part of that partnership. If you ever have a concern or feel dissatisfied with any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate to reach out. We kindly ask that you speak to your child's class teacher in the first instance. If you would then like to discuss matters further, please contact the main office to request an appointment with me. While I cannot always guarantee availability on the same day, I will always make it a priority to get back to you—usually within a day or two—to arrange a suitable time to meet.
